This is an opportunity for you to join content expert Heather Anderson, RDH, MS and other fellow educators to discuss strategies for student support. Dental hygiene school is intense and stressful in nature. We know this, we’ve all been there! Our students seem to need more support than ever as they maneuver through their education. Mentoring is one of the best ways to offer this support. Through formal and informal mentoring, we can support our students but also increase the richness of our own efforts to cultivate the next generation of health professionals.

Objectives:

• Reflect how mentoring can help students self-assess current progress in the program
• Generate ideas to mentor students through classmate and faculty interaction
• Evaluate the complex needs of our students and how to support them
• Realize how mentoring can enrich our experience as educators

Educators Platform Masterminds are dynamic two-hour virtual sessions building on each other’s challenges, ideas and successes in the presence of a content expert. Mastermind sessions are thoughtfully facilitated to create an environment for like-minded colleagues to share and learn from one another with the goal of collective professional growth and development. Sessions are uniquely tailored to the needs of participants. Those attending will have the opportunity to create strong connections with other participants to last a whole career.

More about our content expert: Ms. Anderson is full time faculty at Eastern Washington University in the dental hygiene department. She loves teaching Preclinic with the eager beginning learners and can help springboard their excitement into their career. Many students appreciate her firm but humble and grace-filled approach. She has also taught Prevention, Head and Neck, Pain Management, and Restorative.

Attendees of Educators Platform Mastermind sessions will earn 2 CEU in Educational Methods.
